treasure today

You will never have this day with your children again.

tomorrow they'll be a little older than they are today.

this day is a gift. breathe and notice.

smell and touch them.

study their faces and little feet and pay attention.

RELISH the charms of the present.

Ups and Downs

Last week:

Dan's phone fell out of his pocket onto the floor while we were sitting on the couch...and with a whole living room floor that was perfectly safe, it just happened to land in the small area where he'd set his mug. That was still steaming with a fresh cup of coffee = broken phone.

My ol' computer gave up the ghost. It had definitely served a full life, but there were some pictures on  it (that I knew I should have backed up!) but was lazy and hadn't = lost photos.

While downtown Milwaukee, we had locked the vehicle but the windows were cracked  = someone broke into our vehicle and stole our GPS.

This week:
Arianna cut two teeth
and began crawling
and said 'da-da' for the first time
and got her first taste of food!

That last one was totally an accident. Dan and I were enjoying a snack Sunday evening while playing some games on the floor. All it took was for us to look away for a few seconds, and Arianna had managed to crawl over and get a face full of ranch dressing!

The adventure of life continues...

Old Threshers

Reunion Time!

We were able to travel to Mt. Pleasant, IA, and spend the weekend with family over Labor Day. Everyone was able to make it this year; what a blast to all be together again! Old Threshers is especially memorable because not only has my family sang there the last 10+ years, but we've also gone many times in years previous. (I have pics of me as a toddler at Old Threshers!)

Here's a few quick snapshots of the weekend...

Graduation Day!

Last month found us traveling to OKC for Dan's graduation from Oak Brook College of Law.

The ceremonies were incredibly God-honoring and not only was it refreshing, but also an excellent time for reflection. After several intense years of school, it was exciting to look back on all God had done, as well as recognize all the perseverance and diligent work these graduates put in.

During the banquet on Friday night, it was encouraging to hear the graduates share stories and memories from their time in law school. Talk about long study days, intense exams, late nights, and a very faithful God.

Dan has amazing classmates. It has been such a blessing getting to know them.

Arianna never lacked for attention! [grin]

I'm so thankful for this man!

Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth."
