Christmas Candids

How I love our old fashioned Christmas!

Carols being sung by the tree,
Window's candlelight shining bright -- for the whole world to see!

Children's eyes of sweet expectations...

Wondering what each present will hold!

All the family gathers for this one night --

It is a special feeling shared together
...knowing Christmas was here one night a year!

How I love our old fashioned Christmas!

Memories that last through the years...

Call me sentimental; Don't mind if you do --

But I wish an Old Fashioned Christmas to you!

Merry Christmas!

Let this mind be in you which was also in CHRIST JESUS, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ IS Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Zechariah 10:12

I will strengthen you in Me, and you shall walk up and down in My name.

"God never asks us to do something that He doesn't give us strength to accomplish.
And whatever He asks of you -- is His best for you..."

1 John 4:16

"And we have known and believed the love that God has for us.
God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him."

Love is not something God does; Love is something
God is.

The Great Wall

It is simply amazing how I can be going about my day, and all of the sudden someone will say something or do something that brings back a memory from my summer in China. I am so thankful God gave me the opportunity to be in Taiyuan for 7 weeks; so many things learned and lots (and lots and lots and lots) of pictures taken.

Eating Chinese food (with chopsticks of course!) will never be the same...talk about memories!!

If ya'll don't mind a few more China pics, I've never shared any from our trip to the Great Wall! The last weekend our team was in China, we were able to go see a part of the Great Wall.

Instead of going to Beijing to see the renovated great wall, we ended up staying in the Shanxi province and traveling to see a part of the original wall. It wasn't as impressive as the restored one, but the view was incredible, we were the only ones in sight, we were able to walk on the wall -- and it was an amazing, wonderful, incredible day.

So there you go -- a few more pictures from the summer that I'll never forget...

Psalms 84:5

"Blessed is the man whose strength is in YOU,
Whose heart is set on pilgrimage."

The only place in the world "too dangerous" for the disciple of Jesus Christ is the place of being outside of God's will.

Time flies

Wow! My blog is still here.

It doesn't disappear from the blogging world even though I do!

And yes, it has been over two weeks since I last posted. Life has been full and internet access very limited -- which adds up to very inconsistent blogging. If any of you have ideas or comments about what you would like to see more of on my blog, maybe it will inspire me to find or make time to continue updating here... In the meantime, check out our family blog for updates!

I do hope you are all having a blessed November! What is your favorite thing about the autumn season?

...men can do God's work in their own strength, then it is not God's work at all.

If we can accomplish tasks without God, then He will not get the glory. People will look at what we have done and give us the credit.

Psalms 27:4

"ONE THING I have desired of the Lord,
that will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord."

It is our dreams that define our lives. It is our dreams that define the way we spend our time. Dream God's dreams for your life, and God's dreams will cause you to seek Him above all else, prior to all else, and at the risk of all else.

Xi'an weekend

So someone was bugging me today to blog more...
(my poor blog has been rather abandoned lately).

And as I've been thinking about my summer in China the past few days, I thought I'd share a few more random pictures from a weekend trip we took to Xi'an...

Chinese paper cut -- jumbo size!

We were able to go see the Terracotta Warriors, and though it was fascinating to see them -- it was just as interesting to hear the history behind it all. The warriors were built as part of an emperor's grave site. A man may conquer the world, but without Christ, death is a terrifying thing!
These Warriors have been pieced together from fragments. For those working with the pieces, they consider it a really, REALLY good day if they found two that fit!!

Pictures. Lots and lots of pictures!

A rare -- but welcome sight. A western toilet!!

Xi'an's ancient city wall

Enjoying beef noodle soup...with chopsticks!!

The Olympic games started while we were over there; flags and festive displays were everywhere. So fun to see!

Such precious memories.
