To the glory of God

" Praise ye the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul.
While I live will I praise the Lord:
I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being."
Psalms 146:1-2

The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul. If heed is not paid to this, it is not true music, but a diabolical* bawling and twanging.

-Johann S. Bach

*diabolical: "extremely malicious; devilish; outrageously wicked"
-- Webster's Dictionary of 1828

Amen, sis! Love the thought, and the picture. What a powerful reminder!

Keep focusing your music on that goal, as you already do!:)

Lovin' and hugs!

I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of Your marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High. Ps.9:1-2

Missing you! (see?!? since I'm still in Iowa, I'm resorting to your blog for updates!)

Hey ya'll! It is so fun reading all your comments -- thank you for commenting! Have I ever told you guys, er, um -- gals(!) that you make blogging so much fun?! :D

Allison -- I'm not sure if I won anything at the fair or not, and I won't find out until tomorrow night sometime. The little girls entered some baked goods, so we are all anxiously awaiting the results of the judging. Love back to you! (And have fun making your personal pizzas!)

I have never heard that quote before. That is amazing! I think Bach would be scandalized by the direction music has taken in modern culture.
