A questionnaire:

Hey ya'll!

Sorry I haven't blogged for a while -- I've been to busy enjoying 'home responsibilities,' which would include practicing harp and piano in preparation for lessons, trying to keep up with our laundry pile, taking a small turn in the kitchen, working on my Bible college correspondance course, reading through a photography course, and preparing for the children's camp coming up next month. And now I finally get to the computer to blog again!

And I've been wondering...

#1. How did you come to start reading blogs?
#2. What led you to start your own blog (if you have one)?
#3. What is your favorite subject (or subjects--feel free to name more than one) to read about on someone else's blog?
#4. What do you hope to accomplish by having your blog?
#5. What have you learned from blogging?
#6. How did you find my blog?

I know some of my readers don't have blogs, but I'd still enjoy hearing the questions that do apply to you!

My answers are as follows:
#1. - The Biblical Womanhood blog was the first one I read (or was aware of), and the rest is history! (grin)

#2. - I started my own blog primarily to post my pictures on the internet so my grandparents/friends could see some of my photography, but has also grown to include what the Lord continues to teach me, and quotes that have made an impact on my life.

#3.- I enjoy reading a variety of things -- what others are learning, spiritual lessons, homemaking, photographs of God's creation, and about virtuous womanhood and the like.

#4. My goal is to glorify God, as well as to encourage others to meditate on that which is lovely and pure. (Phil 4:8)

#5. I have learned so much! Not only does it help me articulate my thoughts, I also find myself evaluating 'why' I blog -- trying to remain "approved unto God," not approved unto man's opinion.

#6. - And since this is my blog, the last question doesn't apply to me!

Hey, this is great, Bethany!
I love survey’s and questionnaire’s, so this should be fun!=)

My answers to your questions are as follows:

#1- I came to reading blogs thru my sweet and dear friend Britt at Aletheia Liberty, who started a great blog last October, and introduced me to the blogsphere...=)

#2- I started my own blog last November because I am the kind of person who best expresses my thoughts and feelings thru writing, and since I enjoy both writing and reading very much, I thought I would really enjoy blogging... and I do!=) I also find it an easy way to keep in touch with friends and communicate my heart-beats to them, and hear theirs as well. Also to post pictures of my family, my friends, myself, and flowers or scenery(which I love!). I also desire to encourage others in the Lord and His Word, and to becoming a valiant soldier for Jesus! I know from experience that it helps a great deal to read and share of the deep Love of Jesus, and what it means to truly be an on-fire-for-Jesus Christian in the midst of a perverted world.

#3- I also enjoy reading a variety of things: homemaking, biographies of heros of the Faith; spiritual lessons; portions from classic works written by wonderful men and women of God who have gone on before us; encouragement in the faith; and reading of the trial, struggles, victories, triumphs and lessons others have learned in their Christian walks.

#4- My personal blog’s-goal is similar to that of yours! I have taken Philippians 3:8-15 as not only my blog’s theme, but also my life’s theme. I also want to encourage others to live boldly for the Lord, and I wish to encourage others that God will never disappoint genuine faith in Him and in His Word. He gave His life for us, we must do the same for Him, but not out of dutiful service or obligation, but out of a heart of deep love and humble thankfulness for all He’s done for us. I like the motto William Booth adopted for the Salvation Army: “Saved to Serve!”

#5- I agree with everything you said about what you’ve learned thru blogging! I’ve learned a lot about my friends’ thoughts and feelings, as well.
I have so much more to learn, too!

#6- I found your blog thru (can you guess?!) BrittLeigh!=D

Thanks for the fun!=)
God bless you!!!

#1. - I started reading blogs after our family met Andrea Herrlinger, although I had started a blog earlier than that just to see what google's blogger service was. My cousin started blogging around 3 years ago, but I never read his, due to huge differences in our lives.

#2. - For a long time I had wanted to write encouragement to young people through a printed magazine, but that never really materialized... After starting to email my thoughts to several friends, I decided that a blog would be a little further reaching.

#3. - Mainly, I like to read the spiritual lessons that others are learning, and any encouragement that they have to offer for weary pilgrims on the road of life! And I'm always happy to see nature photography! (BTW, Bethany, you have a God-given talent for that!)

#4. - My main goal and purpose is to encourage others to keep on in the Faith, and to keep on fighting the good fight.

#5. - I find that when I blog something, it tends to cement that lesson God is teaching me into my own heart. Usually, whenever I write about a certain subject to encourage others, there is a trial right there to see if I can live up to what I preach! I praise God for them, though; because without trials, I wouldn't grow!

#6. - I found you through a post on Andrea Herrlinger's blog in reference to your post on "Why I Am Not Saving My Heart For My Husband." Funny as it may sound, that article has been a great blessing for me too... However, I did take the liberty to reverse a few of the nouns and pronouns while reading it!!! :-D

-- --- -- --- -- --- -- --- --

Thank you again, Bethany! May God bless you as you seek to encourage others, and grow in Christ! You've been a blessing to me!

“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Psalms 16:11

#1. How did you come to start reading blogs?

Let me see, I think I was reading something on and decided to check out the blog thing.

#2. What led you to start your own blog (if you have one)?

I signed up for Google Mail and saw the link, so I started my own blog.

#3. What is your favorite subject (or subjects--feel free to name more than one) to read about on someone else's blog?

I love to check out pictures on blogs about peoples life. That is one of the reasons I regularly check out your blog! Love the beautiful photography!

#4. What do you hope to accomplish by having your blog?

I actually started my blog to force myself to take notes in church. I decided that I would blog the sermon notes every Sunday, which I did for awhile. I now find myself in a habit of taking notes, so I guess I achieved my goal!

#5. What have you learned from blogging?

That everyone has an opinion!

#6. How did you find my blog?
I link through to your blog through my sister, Mindy Caron's site. It still seems strange to type her name as Caron!

Hope you are enjoying your Spring.

Take care,

4. I guess I'll have to skip this =)

5. and this...

6. I discovered this blog thanks to a link from Crystal's blog

I guess I fall under the category of a 'lurker' but I just want you to know that I really enjoy coming over here!=)

#1. Entirely by chance, actually; I Googled something and it led me to a blog, which led me to a few others, and then I just kept reading them. (Also, my friends made me get a Livejournal... but that's another story.)
#2. Eventually I thought I wanted to comment on other people's blogs, and it seemed like a great opportunity to put some of my writing online. I like to share my writing that way.
#3. I like reading about people's views on life, also I like to read about their personal lives sometimes-- it gives me insight on the human condition.
#4. I hope to gain faithful readers and maybe even friends.
#5. I've learned a lot of writing tips by reading other writers' blogs, and just more about people's lives. Also some HTML =)
#6. Again, pure chance; I clicked the "next blog" button and it led me to yours.

You type very maturely, by the way, and your faith reminds me of that of a friend of mine, a Mormon who also has several siblings. You seem really set in your faith... good for you! I was wondering what denomination of Christian you are?

It has been fun reading how ya'll started blogging! Some thought provoking answers, too. Thanks for answering -- your insights spur me on as well!

Maya -- I don't have any paticular denomination, but believe the Bible to be the God's Holy Word, complete and without error, and I try to live accordingly. My family and I are currently attending a Christian Missionary Alliance Church, and have been so blessed by fellowshipping with like-minded believers there.

#1. How did you come to start reading blogs?
--I started reading blogs when college classmates started sending me the web addresses to their blogs.--

#2. What led you to start your own blog (if you have one)?
--I started the first one so I could post about random topics included academics, but soon started the second one where I could post things of a more serious nature, especially what the Lord has been showing me and insights into tough theological topics.

#3. What is your favorite subject (or subjects--feel free to name more than one) to read about on someone else's blog?
--It really varies depending on the person, as I read over 100 blogs and each person has a different writing style and topic.--

#4. What do you hope to accomplish by having your blog?
--Referring to my "serious" blog here, I hope to get people thinking about what they believe, especially regarding Christian doctrine, so that they have tested their beliefs in light of Scripture and don't just believe something because it is tradition.

#5. What have you learned from blogging?
How much time can be spent on it... and also, effective ways for writing online.

#6. How did you find my blog?
From your family's blog...which I found on your family's website...which I heard about from someone else at Millard alliance.
