Charissa's prayer

Over the last month or so, I've begun preparing my three year old sister, Charissa, for the wedding -- trying to help her understand that I'll be moving far away afterwards. I couldn't really tell if she was getting the idea or not, until the other morning when we were having family prayer time. We start with the oldest and work our way down, everyone taking their turn to pray. When it came to Charissa's turn, I heard her say:

"Dear Lord, please help Dan and Bethany to get married,
and then after Bethany goes bye-bye,
please help me go see her..."

Sweet. I love it when little children pray. They often say the cutest things.

That's so cute, Bethany! =)

It's hard to know what little kids actually understand. My little sisters didn't at all understand what was happening before I moved in with my great-grandma. They also didn't have much warning because it all happened so fast. It's good that Charissa seems to understand.

Can't wait for the wedding!

How precious (and sad!). That's a great idea to be preparing her for that new "normal".

I am sitting here bawling. That is so precious! Charissa and the others in your family will miss you so much, Bethany! I hope you know that. I'm so happy for you, but almost a little sad that you won't be with your family as much. Oh well, soon you'll start one of your own! I hope you keep blogging after you get married!

That prayer brought tears to my eyes!Since my oldest brother was just married Saturday, I can say that marriage (for the family 'left behind') is a bittersweet experiance. But God gives grace and is in control of every situation.
"For everything there is a season"
And He controls the seasons of our lives.

Praying for you, Dan, and your family,

Hi, I have never met you in my entire life, but we have the same name, and I live in VA. I thought it would be awesome if you were moving close to me. I just think it is cool to find another Bethany, but another Bethany Wissmann is even cooler. :) I enjoyed reading your blog, and it is awesome that if we never do meet on earth we will meet in our real home. :) Congrats on your up-and-coming marriage!!!!!!!!!!!!
I could recommend a church if you're moving to my area!
