Lunar Eclipse

Did anybody else see the earth cast its shadow on the moon last night?! Our family had a service, and afterwards I didn't have time to grab a tripod or anything, but I did capture this picture...

ISO 400 - f 5.6 - 1/320 - 300mm

Yes we did get to see it! My brothers also have a powerful telescope, & we were able to see saturn & its rings! God's creation is so amazing, we were in awe! Bridgette for the Chupps

I was able to see it too. Wow!! How incredible!
Was it a total eclipse were you are? It was here in Omaha. The moon turned red and then slowly dissapeared. It was really strange!!!

GREAT SHOT, Bethany! I love moon pictures... that one is great! :) I especially enjoyed the orange glow after the shadow passed over... :) You took a really great shot there without a tripod... wow! Again, I love it! Thanks so much for sharing!
Blessings! :)

Good job Bethany!
I took my camera and tri-pod to EMS class last night so I could take pictures on the way home, but the clouds were so thick I didn't get to see any of it. :(

Yes, I saw it!!!! My friend Melanie and I were up watching it for quite a while. That is a gorgeous shot!

I saw it! So neat...here it was a perfectly clear, cloudless night, and the eclipse was full. Like others mentioned, there was a significant red tint to it. Oh, I was wishing for a camera lens big enough to capture it!

We were able to watch it too. :) I tried getting a picture but our camera isn't that good. Looks like you got a wonderful shot though! :) God's creation is so amazing!

Hey Bethany!
Yes, we did! We were actually at some friends' house playing games...but got up and went outside throughout some of the evening to take a peek at it's progress! :-) Where are you at right now?

Love,
Lacey

We had a pretty good view right from our dining room table. So Beth, I, and the kids sat in the dark and just watched the shadow cross over the moon. I did take a handful of pictures, but I am dubious of their quality. Since it was -20 degrees below, I was glad we could sit in a warm house and still see the show!

Wow, that's an amazing picture, dear! I stepped out into the frigid temperatures for like 3 minutes to get a picture before I got too cold. I doubt any of mine turned out as nice as this though ;) (I haven't uploaded them yet).

It's kind of sweet to think we were looking at the moon at the same time... eh? :) (((HUGS)))

Cloudy and rainy here last night. :-(

I wouldn't have known that you hadn't used a tripod if you hadn't told us. Great job! You should try more moon pictures.

One of my pictures from the August 28, 2007 Total Lunar Eclipse is here: August 28, 2007 at 1:51 am ADT
Taken with a Canon S2-IS, f3.5, 1 second, ISO unknown

Please tell me that you're kidding. :) I can't believe your picture turned out so well without a tripod!!!! (We got to see it, but then the clouds covered it up.)

I need a new camera!! :)

yes!! as i left choir practice it was almost totally eclipsed and by the time i got home it had turned red and had almost a blue haze around it. even if the light polution in Lincoln ruined part of it, i was still in awe of God and his greatness. :D

Jacob said...

Yep. I saw it here in Omaha too. I also thought the color was interesting-- like a deep, murky orange. Cool photo; thanks for sharing!

Yes!! But it was cloudy over here... that wasn't very nice... :P

I am glad you got your shot. i sure didn't get anything..I didn't even get to see it! It was too cloudy and overcast. I guess I can't have car wreck shots (published in 2 papers!) and moon ecilpse in the same day. That would probably put me on adrenaline overload!

I didn't know about it until last night. (2-21-08)I'm not sure if I've ever seen the Lunar Eclipse before. I was talking to a friend last night and my mom told me to ask my friend if she had seen it. My mom thought I said "lunie Eclipse" My friend thought that was funny! I laughed too. :)

That's beautiful! I got to see it get completely covered...it was an eerie orange/red/brown color.

I've been tagged by one of my friends, and I've been reading your blog for quite some time and thought I'd tag you! Just go to my blog http://cecilia-rose.blogspot.com and check out the post "Tag You're It!" All you have to do is think up 6 random things about yourself and then tag 6 other people. It's fun!

God Bless,
Cecilia Rose

We figured out that one of the reasons you saw it, and we didn't, is because it was actually warm enough were you were at to be outside to see it! lol I don't know how warm it was there, but it was only a whopping -5 here that night. BUUURRR!! The other reason was, we didn't know it was happening. :) But didn't that first one sound like a good reason?!? :D Love you!
