One of the best things

...about Florida is all of the delicious, fresh picked oranges. They are the absolute best! My mouth waters just thinking about them.

And I'm sorry about my lack of posting here on my little corner of the web. For all of you that check in -- sorry there hasn't been anything new! The worst of it is, I really don't even have any sensible excuses to offer. [sigh]

I just ate one of those delicious oranges! I found a bag in our kitchen this morning! I wonder who could have picked them? :)

I am curious about the picture. Oranges really are green- did you know that? Did they color them right away, spray them ahead of time with something that would automatically color them, or did you do some photo editing? I'd love an answer, but if you don't know, that's fine. It was just kind of surprising to see a picture of fresh oranges still on the tree already colored.

Ummm...no, I had never heard or seen green oranges, except really unripe ones. Down here in Florida they have huge orchards with tons of ripe oranges -- and they are all bright orange! So pretty hanging on a tree. (And no, I didn't photo-edit this picture at all!) They are orange as an orange can be!

Oranges are delicious!!!!

Oranges are green until cool temperatures cause them to ripen and turn orange. Oranges that don't get enough cool temperatures stay a yellowish green color. That's why oranges grown indoors don't usually turn orange.

That's a mouth watering picture :)

Bethany (and Esther:D) ~ The oranges in Florida are actually green for quite some time... until they ripen (that was an amazing blonde statement on my part!). I was in Florida over Christmas and as we drove along the road, my sister pointed out the orange groves and I was so disappointed to see they were *green*, not *orange*.

Enjoy your time in the warm weather!

I like oranges!! I've never seen a green orange...would it still be called orange? :)

Even though you don't update your blog, I still check it everyday. :)

Thank you, everybody for telling me about the oranges! I had been wondering about it for quite some time, and I know organic oranges around here are often a little bit more greener because before they take the non-organic oranges and stock them, they color them so they really have a very orange-y look to them. I appreciate all of you telling me! I am a Michigan kid who has been pretty much everywhere down south except for Florida. :)
